Breathwork

Properly performed, appropriately selected breathing exercises, presents a most powerful modality, effectively decreasing the noise of an incessantly, manically, chattering mind.

We strongly recommend everyone, but especially those of us who are stressed and anxious, to include in our daily regimen, an effective breathing exercise.

The following exercise is sometimes called: 

​​The One Minute Yogic Breath


The exercise consists of inhaling, suspending the breath and exhaling, via the nostrils, for equal durations of time. 


  • ​Initially use 5 sec. intervals:
5 sec. inhale - 5 sec. suspend breathing - 5 sec. exhale = one cycle 
  • Perform at least 12 cycles in order to experience significant benefits.
  • When the exercise becomes effortless, increase the intensity by simply increasing durations. Remember, the breath should however remain unstrained.
  • Gradually increase your capacity up to 20 sec. intervals (wherefrom the name one minute yogic breath stem). One cycle = 1 minute
  • We may effectively control and slow our breath by mentally focusing on, and tightening the pathway of the throat, which, when done correctly, will produce a hissing sound during inhalation and exhalation.

TIP: By cleansing the nose with lukewarm salt water, breathwork becomes effort-less.

TIP: On inhalation, see and feel serene, peaceful, golden light enter you, and let it spread throughout every corner of your body in the suspension period, and then see and feel stress or specific "stressors" depart in a cloud of black smoke, during exhalation.  ​​


Mindset

An extraordinary powerful technique which modulates the nature of our thoughts, employed ​by ancient Yogis and modern success specialists, amongst others; consists of transforming the impact of any negative, stressful and fearful thoughts, by immediately counterfocusing on the very opposite thought.
​If an ignoble thought arises, think of the opposite noble thought instead. Always remember the mind can only focus and contain one thought at a time. Wherefore, for example, if you are thinking about mistrusting a dear friend; immediately switch thoughts; think of the opposite, i.e. see your friend as a noble, trustworthy ally and companion.
This technique is incredibly powerful, ​however, we must become increasingly conscious of our thoughts in particular, and our awareness in general, via meditation and contemplation, in order to enjoy the lasting, life transforming benefits of this mind-set.
