Brushing and Flossing
- If you are suffering from serious dental issues; remember to brush your teeth VERY gently and use dental floss, preferably following any meal in which food residues cannot be washed off the surface of the teeth via water swishing; gauge the condition of the teeth with the aid of the tongue.
- If you cannot manage to brush and floss, use the proscribed mouthwash instead.
- NEVER brush your teeth immediately following acidic meals. Use water or, if possible, a mouthwash with natural ingredients (instructions are detailed below) to dissolve and neutralize acids in a gentle manner instead of pressing the acids against your teeth with the tooth brush.
Dental Floss Technique
- Both sides of the teeth should be thoroughly cleaned with the floss; the process usually takes 2-4 minutes.
-
In order to increase the effectiveness of dental flossing; impregnate the floss with an essential oil(s); peppermint oil diluted with olive oil, for example, works well (any of the oils mentioned in this article can be used, see: The Essential Blend), if you suffering from any dental issues, this step is absolutely essential.
Brushing Technique
-
After brushing the teeth; the entire surface area should feel smooth and plain. Use the tongue to gauge the condition of the surface area. Obtaining a smooth dental surface condition may require 2-4 min. of brushing.
- Brushing the tongue is essential, not merely due to politeness ;) but more importantly, in order to maintain superior dental hygiene. By brushing the tongue we are effectively reducing the capacity of oral microbes to generate plaque forming byproducts; ensuring a beautiful, lasting white smile, and strong, cavity free teeth.
Forever After? In accordance with your lifestyle, the strength and health of your body, the necessity of flossing and brushing your teeth will vary. In conjunction with the manifestation of a healthy body there will be less need for constant cleaning, and, eventually, water will suffice as mouthwash.
Mouthwash
-
Prepare a solution of bicarbonate / sea salt:
To 250ml water, add:
2 tablespoons of bicarbonate / sea salt
Optional, but ideal
10-20 drops of essential oil(s) - i.e. peppermint, eucalyptos, wild oregano
5-10 drops of 35% hydrogen peroxide
Use this solution as a mouthwash following the ingestion of acidic foods and beverages, after which, no brushing or flossing should take place.
- This mouthwash may be effectively utilized following all meals, preferably, if possible, in conjunction with flossing, however, simply using the mouthwash will reduce the proliferation of bacteria and alkalize the mouth. One may for practical measures, when on the go, bring along a small bottle of the prepared admixture, or even just some bicarbonate or sea salt, which can be used following meals: simply place a teaspoon of the powder/sea salt in your mouth and swish with water for at least 30 sec. before expelling.
Vitamin D
-
Make sure to get enough sun light. If not possible, it's a great idea to supplement with vitamin D, or undergo treatments at full spectrum sun-spa facilities; promoting vitamin D production. This measure is absolutely essential, since the body needs vitamin D to properly utilize calcium and maintain strong teeth.
Minerals
- Mineral insufficiencies or even flat out deficiencies are prevalent due to the poor quality of many diets, and in many cases an inefficient ability to assimilate nutrients, combined with mineral depleted soils; wherefore it is highly recommended to incorporate wild, mineral rich fruits, herbs and sea vegetables into our daily dietary regimen, since many minerals are vital for the maintenance of strong and healthy teeth.
-
We may briefly mention the following, exceptionally mineral rich herbs: Nettle, Arugula, Oat Straw, Dandelions, Horsetail, Moringa, Kelp, Alfalfa and Red Clover. See Herbal Infusions.
