SPIRIT

The tree, the stranger across the street, the chimpanzee, the giraffe and thee; originate from the same source: in actuality, we are ONE family. The simple truth of origin ought to inspire a profound sense of sympathy among planetary members.

We often, consciously or unconsciously, pursue the agendas of divisive sectarianism; characterized by submission to the whims of tribal affiliations (country, ethnicity, religion, family, etc.).

The sense of wanting to belong is an intrinsic human condition, with good reason; affinity engenders empathy, wherefore necessity simply ordains the transposition of absolute identification, empathy and sympathy from local ordinances of tribal association, and reconnecting with our extended family: the source of all life.

When we enlighten and expand our feelings of kinship; including the entire planet; acting altruistically becomes compulsory. Imagine how personal and collective resources are spent on trivial, disingenuous, destructive and degenerative pursuits and endeavors, whilst people are starving, animals are senselessly being slaughtered, pristine water is being contaminated, forests are being uprooted, and yet being of service everywhere an inspiring, life transforming, possibility.
We are seemingly hypnotized by feelings of separation, segregation and classification; causing ignorance and indifference, anachronistic lethargy and impotence.

Prior to the emergence of conscious awareness and language, among our primate ancestors, survival primarily depended on understanding and familiarity within a group, endurance emerged from the united front of community members. Ironically, the western world is characterized by lack of identification, understanding and influence concerning the parameters and resources governing and predominating the unique immediate local environment. Neither are most of us particularly concerned about the future of life on the planet; we go about our business, hoping someone smarter, perhaps more caring, will take care of the always necessary.

Psychopaths (psychological-pathology = translation: a permanent, intrinsic, logical, malady of the soul) are described as individuals caring exclusively for the preservation and glorification of the self: the apparent attitude of many appears borderline psychopathic, since action and sentiments principally concern the immediate family, inexcusably neglectful of the extended primordial family. Hence, we have lost local action based group identity (the local family: the members of the local community), and remain passive or ignorant of planetary concerns (the global family). Instead, we identify with artificially created structures: a football team we happen to support, the arbitrarily located country in which we happen to have been born, a religious cult in which we happen to be members, or the internet forum celebrating a celebrity we happen to adore.

Artificially constructed communities are principally harmless: a colorful manifestation of humanity. However, finite associations are substituted for the eternal; temporarily satisfying the inner necessity of belonging (sharing), the very feeling necessary for contemplation and relation with the highest of all: the community above all other communities: the communality of earth and spirit.

The formation of association, without embracing the eternal relation, manifests dangers, pathologies and derangement, since unsubstantiated and unnecessary feelings of division cloud the vision of one united planet: above all else.
